INVITATION

The annual scientific meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Research will be held in Siena from the 31st August to the 3 rd September, 2005. On behalf of the Local Organizing and Scientific Committees, I cordially invite you to join us at this meeting.
Siena is rich with a tradition of study and culture, and boasts a university founded in 1239, one of the oldest in Europe. The study of medicine in Siena is even older, with a hospital functioning for more than 1000 years.
The venue is the Teaching Center of the Medical Faculty of the University of Siena, in the town periphery. The scientific programmme includes new scientific developments and their significance for paediatrics, with special emphasis on high quality clinical research. There will be plenary sessions on important new fields and state of the art topics.
Both basic and clinical research will be presented in parallel sessions as platform presentations and poster walks.
There will also be satellite symposia, mini-symposia and free paper sessions.
Our goal is to promote an optimal interaction between basic research and clinical experience, in a cordial atmosphere.
As is written on the city's northern door, "Cor magis tibi Sena pandit: Siena opens its heart to you". It is in this tradition that we welcome you and your guests to participate in this international congress.
