Scientific Information

The annual scientific meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Research will be held in Siena from August 31 to September 3, 2005.

Orphan Europe Academy Course
The Orphan Europe Academy, in collaboration with ESPR, is organising a postgraduate course for all paediatricians interested in further training and updating. It will be held just before the ESPR Annual Meeting, on August 29 and 30, 2005.

ESN Training Course in Neonatal Medicine
The European Society for Neonatology, a section of ESPR, in collaboration with Chiesi Group Farmaceutici SpA, is organising a course which will be particularly directed to physicians in training to become specialists in neonatal medicine. It will be more practical and less research oriented. It will be held on August 30 and 31, 2005.

  • Central Nervous System/Neurology of the Newborn and Fetus
  • Nutrition & Growth. Gastroenterology & Metabolism

The number of participants to this European Course in Neonatology is restricted to 50 participants: admittance is subject based on the applicants' CV.

Oral Communication Sessions
The abstracts selected for oral presentation have been slotted into 18 parallel sessions scheduled during the three days of congress. Each author is given 10 minutes for presentation and 5 for discussion.
Only PC data projection is available at the meeting. Each Lecture Room will be provided with a laptop. Use of one's personal laptop will thus not be allowed. The authors are kindly invited to contact the Slide Centre the day before their presentation (or at least 2 hrs before).

Poster Sessions
The abstracts have been slotted into 26 parallel sessions, all scheduled on September 3. Each author is given 2 minutes for presentation and 5 for discussion.
In each Lecture Room there will be an overhead projector, which the author can use to show one or two transparencies.
- Poster size must be: cm 70 (width) x cm 100 (height)
- Each poster has been given a number and should be put on the board marked with the same number

Technical Equipements
Only PC data projection will be available at the meeting.
Each Lecture Room will be provided with a laptop. Use of one’s personal laptop will thus not be allowed. Speakers having their personal laptop are kindly requested to go to the Slide Centre much in advance in order to have their presentation copied.

UEMS - European Union of Medical Specialists
For the 46th
ESPR Annual Meeting, UEMS credits will be asked to the Union of European Medical Specialists. They are valid all over Europe, the United States and Canada (reciprocity agreement with the American Medical Association).

Young Investigator Prize
A prize will be awarded to the best presentation of selected abstracts presented at the Young Investigators Plenary Session.
