The European Union of Medical Specialists will
be asked for UEMS credits for this course.
EUROPEAN ACCREDITATION FOR THE
ESNR EVENTS
The UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) is a Brussels-based
organization constituted by 17 national associations from the European
Union and 37 specialist organizations; its aim is to develop uniform
standards in medical education.
EACCME (European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education)
is an institution of the UEMS and the clearing house for Educational
Credits awarded by each national Authority for CME activities.
Prof. Marco Leonardi, the ESNR Secretary General, started a close co-operation
with the EAACI Accreditation Council Tecnical-Scientific Secretariat
(Dr Alfonso Negri) at the beginning of 2001, so that now all the ESNR
events and all the meetings of the national societies of Neuroradiology
held in different European countries can apply for CME credits.
Specific National Accreditation for CME will
be sought for all the Italian medical doctors, according to the Italian
Ministry of Health rules.
EUROPEAN CME CREDITS CAN BE CONVERTED
TO THE USA ACCREDITATION SYSTEM
On 14 June 2002 a joint AMA (American Medical Association) - UEMS (Union
of European Medical Specialists Council) committee unanimously agreed
to extend the reciprocal recognition until 2006. This could very well
be the basis for a move towards a system of universal recognition of
international credits issued by qualified accreditation bodies world-wide.
