Dear Friends It is a pleasure to invite you to the upcoming 21 st World Congress of the International Union of Angiology, organized in Rome, Italy, on May 22-26, 2004. Professor Salvatore Novo, Congress Chair and President-Elect of the Union has invited a world class faculty of international experts in vascular medicine and biology, interventional radiology, cardiology, vascular and endovascular surgery to participate in this important event. Professor Antonio Strano has been selected Honorary President and Professor Claudio Allegra will serve as Vice-President of the 21st World Congress. Delegates from all corners of the world will travel to Rome in May of 2004 to learn the latest advances in vascular research and therapy. The International Union of Angiology has grown considerably in the past two years and we are stronger today than anytime before. Members of the Union include over 1500 physicians, surgeons and scientists from different specialties, who investigate or treat vascular disease. The IUA today is a multidisciplinary, international umbrella organization of vascular specialists. I have no doubts that this will be a most productive and successful world meeting where a strong scientific agenda will be combined with a most enjoyable social program. We will have the chance to discover the beauty and magic of Rome, one of the greatest cities of human civilization. Dear Colleagues, it is my pleasure to announce the 21 st World Congress of the International Union of Angiology, that will be held in Rome, from May 22 to 26, 2004. I am deeply grateful to the Executive Board of the IUA for having chosen again Rome, in Italy, as side of the IUA World Congress and personally I am very honoured for having been charged of the organization of this Congress. I want also to thank very much Professor Strano for having accepted to be the Honorary President of this Congress and Professor Allegra for helping me in the organization of the Meeting. This second announcement contains a very large list of topics useful for the preparation of scientific contribution from people wishing to participate and so to contribute to the scientific programme of the Congress with free papers for oral communication and poster sessions as well as for the special sessions devoted to the competition for IUA prizes, IASACO prizes and other prizes from the pharmaceutical companies. We hope to receive soon suggestions for Symposia, Debates, Workshops, How to Sessions, Pro and Contra Sessions, and Lectures and for distinguish speakers from all the members of the Executive Board of the International Union of Angiology as well as from world-wide scientists actively involved in practical angiology as well as in clinical and experimental research in hospitals and University-hospitals. The Congress is aiming to present and debate the most recent experiences and research in the field of vascular pathology between angiologists, cardiologists, diabetologists, specialists in internal medicine and geriatrics, haematologists, radiol- ogists, vascular surgeons as well as young post-graduating doctors in these disciplines and nurses, so to have a multiform and attractive scientific programme. Moreover, we hope that people coming from other countries as well as from other regions of Italy can find attractive and interesting also the history and monuments of Rome Òcaput mundiÓ, with its mosaic of art and culture.
